Please review the below content with students. 


1. Rights and Responsibilities: Write the below questions on the board - Review with Class. Brainstorm.

Who is responsible for ensuring safety in the classroom? 

What rights do the students have?

What responsibilities do students have?

After Brainstorm: Review The Answer Key Below:


Teacher - Statement: We are now going to think about what rights and responsibilities employers and workers have towards safety.

Task - Assign to Students - Group Work: Max group size 4.

Your group to choose a job that you do or may do in the future (garden worker, busboy, warehouse worker, kitchen worker, babysitter, etc.) 

Group Questions: Put Up On Board For Students! (Project these or write them on the board).

• What do I have the right to expect from my employer?
• What responsibilities do I have?
• What does my employer have the right to expect from me? •What responsibilities does my employer have? 

TASK - Group - you are to put all answers on one sheet of paper with all your group names on it. 

*Students - you know the drill - there is extra lined paper at the front of the room - in the bin -middle bottom shelf at the front of the room. If you do not have a pencil sign one out from the student yogurt container on my desk.


Students - Note: On one side of the paper: employee rights and responsibilities and the other side employer rights and responsibilities

Further Group Work: 

Students - You will receive a scenario (1-5 as listed below). 

TTOC please assign each group 1 of the below scenarios.

Students - Your group is to then brainstorm and list the responsibilities of the worker and employer in your assigned scenario. Group to put all answers on one sheet of paper with all group names on it.

Note: One side of the paper - Worker Responsibilities & the other side Employer Responsibilities.
